Obituary for Wilbert Sells

Wilbert Sells was born on October 12, 1934 in Honey Island, Texas to Gertrude O’Neal Sells and Riley Sells. His family moved to Kountze, Texas where he went to school up to 6th grade and quit to find work at twelve years of age to help take care of his mother and father.

He met the woman of his life, Johnnie Wee Anderson Sells. They got married on May 13, 1952 and stayed united until her untimely death in 1989.

At the age of twelve years old he began working at Kirby Lumber as a laborer; was later hired as a forklift driver for many years for Allen Peavy Lumber until they closed. He then went back to Kirby Lumber where he worked as a foreman until they shut down in 1986. He then went to work at Market Basket until Hurricane Katrina caused it to close. He then found himself working at Taco Bell where he was named the “Cleaning Captain” until his health began to decline. Wilbert Sells loved going fishing, singing and talking.

Wilbert Sells accepted Christ as his Savior in 19 under the leadership of Pastor Perkins. He served in the choir, on the Deacon Board, Deacon over the Jr. Deacons, outreach ministries visiting hospitals, nursing homes, and around in the neighborhood until the dreadful disease Alzheimer’s affected his health.

Wilbert Sells preceded in death by his parents Gertrude O’Neal Sells and Riley Sells; his wife of 37 years Johnnie Anderson Sells; 2nd wife Betty Coffey Lee Sells; son Craig Edward Sells; Step Son Cornell Lee; his sisters Leola, Mary, Gustivie, Lillie Mae, and Ellen Sells.

Wilbert Sells leaves to mourn seven daughters; Doris McDaniel of Kountze, TX; Geneva Burgess of Houston, TX; Ethel Bush of Tomball, TX; Janis Isaac of Citrus Height, CA; Shernell Sells of South Carolina; Myra Howard (Milton) of San Antonio, TX; Amanda McGrue (Robert) of Beaumont, TX.; three stepdaughters; four sons; Wilbert C. Sells (Sarah) of Silsbee, TX; Richard Sells of Lufkin, TX; Willie A. Sells (Zina) of Kountze, TX; Lindon McCray (Sandra) of Kountze, TX.; and two stepsons. Step Children: Russell Coffey, Micheal Coffey ( Carolyn) Vickie Whitmore (Arthur)
