Tommie Lawrence Hadnot (Tom) was born December 10, 1945 in Moss Hill, Texas and passed away January 1, 2021 at home in Point Blank, Texas with his wife by his side.
Tommie married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Ann Stewart, on December 22, 1968. They have one son, Cedric Dartell, whom he adored. Tom graduated from Henry T. Scott High School in May, 1964 and went to Prairie View A&M College the following Fall. He joined the ROTC on campus and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in May, 1968. He joined the Army in January, 1969 and was deployed to Vietnam upon completion of his basic training. He served in Vietnam from June, 1969 to March, 1970. He was wounded in action and returned to the States to recover. He was discharged from the military in January 1971. Tom earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and the Sharpshooter (Rifle) medal.
Tom’s professional work history included Warehouse Manager for Fleming Foods and Grocers Supply in Houston, Texas; and Manager for Huntsville Wholesale Foods, in Huntsville, Texas where he supervised all warehouse staff and drivers for the company. After his retirement, he moved to Point Blank, Texas where he lived until his death.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Ivy and Linnie Mae Hadnot; and 3 Brothers: Charles, Willie James, and Lee Henry Hadnot.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years, Joyce Ann Hadnot of Point Blank, Texas; his son, Cedric Hadnot of Houston, Texas; 2 brothers: Joe L. Hadnot (Joyce Marie) of Woodville; Steven Richard Hadnot (Karina) of Sugarland, Texas; and 6 Sisters: Iva Jean Carter (St. Petersberg, Florida); Maurice Williams (Woodville, Texas) Betty Johnson-Rogers (Killeen, Texas); Mary Ann Hutchins (Bobby) of Harker Heights, Texas; Carol Ann Settles (Harker Heights, Texas) and Ida Joyce Kiel (Woodville, Texas); and one Sister-in-law, Betty Townsend, (Houston Texas). He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All of us have been blessed with his kindness and support.
