Obituary for Steven Howard Lompe

Steven H. Lompe, 70, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, TX.

Steven was born in El Reno, OK, raised in Baltimore, MD, lived in Corpus Christi, TX, and finished out his life in Jasper, TX. He was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a US Navy Veteran, and devout Christian. His hobbies included his love of woodworking, bird watching, gardening “God’s Land”, and of course being stubborn. Anyone who met him knew his infectious smile, distinct laugh and his great hugs. He showed us all how to love hard, live happily, and most of all to forgive. He may be gone, but certainly will never be forgotten.

Preceded in death by his parents Raymond (Kathy) Lompe and Cornelia Lompe.

Steven is survived by his wife of 24 years Carol, 4 children Sandra Lompe, Melissa (Allen) Cook, Michelle (Ram) Lompe, and Keith Lompe, 2 step-daughters Terri (Kraig) Kluck and Melissa (Teddy) Schoelkopf, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his dogs Rosie and Tabi, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends whose lives Steven touched are invited to a celebration of life memorial on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at 1pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2727 Airline Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78414. In lieu of flowers, the family request either a donation to his wife’s expenses or to the South Texas Transplant Alliance and to please remember to register to be an organ donor.
