Obituary for Rita Gayle Brown

Rita Gayle Brown entered this world on September 14, 1952 in Pineland, Texas, to her loving parents Albert Charles Sr. and Evelyn Brown. She grew up in a household with 11 brothers and sisters. Rita and her sister, Bet, as she called Elizabeth, moved to Jasper, Texas in 1974. Rita and Bet were not only sisters, but best friends, and lived together until 1996 when Rita moved out. Rita did not want to move far from Bet, so she stayed in Jasper and their special bond continued. If you were ever looking for Rita, you could find her at Bet’s house and if you were looking for Bet, you could find her at Rita’s house. When they were not together, they were on the phone with each other several times a day.

In 1983, Rita met the love of her life, Charlie Bennett. Rita and Charlie never had any biological children, but often showered their 5 godchildren with love. Charlie had a love for the game of pool and Rita was always there to support him. They traveled to several towns and states so Charlie could attend pool competitions. Rita and Charlie shared many wonderful years together until his death on January 8, 2016
.
Rita was loved by everyone that knew her and she never met a stranger. Her beautiful smile and words of encouragement brightened each day. She tried her best to attend all family events to be supportive. Rita would often attend church with her niece/goddaughter, Trina, at the Church of Jesus Christ- House of Prayer under the leadership of Apostle Henry Andrus and Pastor Brenda Andrus.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Charles Sr and Evelyn Brown, and the love of her live, Charlie Bennett.

She leaves to cherish and honor her memory, Godchildren: Victoria Brown and Litrina Brown of Jasper, Texas, Lorenzo Brown of Call, Texas, Tyronda Carter (Chris) of Huntsville, Texas, and Rita Caldwell of Saginaw, Michigan; Sisters: Elzena Goodie and Elizabeth Brown of Jasper, Texas, Maudie Brown of Sherman, Texas, Nannie Harris (Edward) of Duncanville, Texas, Doris Cooper of Pineland, Texas, Jackie Holman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Delois Thomas of Pineland, Texas; Brothers: John Brown (Betty) and AC Brown Jr (Janet) of Jasper, Texas, Gilbert Brown (Renee) of Nacogdoches, Texas, Earl Brown (Sharon) of Pineland, Texas, and Bennie Brown of Nacogdoches, Texas; Devoted sister-in-law: Carolyn Brown (Alfred) of Beaumont, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives
