Obituary for Renita Cecile Garrett

Renita Cecile Johnson Garrett was born on November 8, 1974 to the late Regina Johnson-Garrett and Craig Hunt. Renita was loved by her parents and yet God saw fit, to grace her with her loving grandmother Eldress Edith Seastrunk-Johnson and her uncle Willie Johnson who played an intricate and vital role in raising her into the woman she was.

Renita attended and graduated with the Jasper High School Class of 1994. She later attended Tyler Junior College, but she received her degree some years later in Child Development from Angelina College, where she also received her licensure to open her dream business. In 1999, Renita opened 1st Based Learning Center, which was a success until its closure per the owner.

At a young age, Renita feared and loved the Lord. She was baptized and served the Lord under her grandmother and tutor ledge at the Church of the Living God in Brookland, Texas. Renita’s thirst and hunger for God was unquenchable and set her on a path to be exactly what God had called her to be. In 2012, she joined Kingdom Builders International Fellowship under the leadership of Pastors Chris and Deshanna Collins. There she was known as the “preaching machine” and was known to “Rock Zion” and set the church on fire. Her servitude was reflected through her, especially through her local church, where she has served over the years in the following capacities:
Associate Pastor
Women’s Ministry Leader
Evangelistic Team Member
Financial Team Member
Pastor Aide Team Member
Prayer Warrior on the “Hard Hitters” Intercessory Team
Team Leader over Sabbath Prayer
She was licensed through Citizens of Apostolic Kingdom Organization “C.O.A.K.” as an Evangelist. She also, was weeks away from receiving her Christian Counseling Certification. Renita was always thinking of ways to help her community.

As a strong Virtuous Woman, her loved and dedication to her family was unparalleled and evident in everything she did. Renita made sure that her husband, the love of her life and best friend, “Big E” (her pet name for him) was always taken care of. She doted on her sons, Zaccheus and JaBraylon, her daughter-in-love, Shay, her love muffin, Ziya and her bonus daughter, LaKendria Kyles. She made sure they were all good and well taken care of, even up until the time of her death.

Although Renita’s health had declined and she limitations in her body over the past few years, this Woman of God never stopped serving the Lord Jesus. She used social media to encourage many, many, many people of God.

On the morning of July 17, 2020, Renita Cecile Garrett, the devoted wife, mother, sister, auntie, NiNi, YaYa, cousin, friend and preaching machine, completed her earthly assignment, as the Lord decided to call home His faithful servant.

Renita was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edith Johnson, L.B. Johnson, Meredith Hunt, and her beloved mother, Regina Garrett.

The memories of Renita’s love and life will forever be lodged into the hearts of her faithful husband of 25 years, Elder Eric Garrett of Jasper, Texas; her sons, Zaccheus Garrett (Zaukya) of Kirbyville, Texas and Jabraylon Garrett of Jasper, Texas; her special daughter, LaKendria Kyles of Conroe, Texas; her bonus daddy, Willie Johnson of Jasper, Texas; her father, Craig Hunt and Stepmother, Sheba Hunt of Pineland, Texas; her beloved sisters, Tenikia (Wilbert) McClemore of Jasper, Texas, LaRhonda Garrett (Danny) of Conroe, Texas, Nikita Hunt of Houston, Texas, and Toya (Shawn) Davis of Pineland, Texas; her two brothers, Ivory Garrett of Beaumont, Texas and Mikey Hunt of Houston, Texas; and her “Love Muffin” Ziya Garrett. Also, to cherish the memories of her life, she leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
