Obituary for Lora Ann Mays
Lora Ann Mays, 52, of Jasper, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2023, in Houston. She was born on February 10, 1971, in Kirbyville, Texas, to Brenda Houston and the late Lawrence Lock.
Lora graduated from Jasper High School in 1989 and went on to become a devoted stay-at-home mother. She married her loving husband, Herbert Mays, and together they raised two sons, Lawrence Mays (Katrina) and Damarcus Mays (Abigail). Lora was also a cherished stepmother to Edward Mays and Eddie Mays.
She adored her role as a mother and grandmother, and her presence brought joy and happiness to everyone around her.
Lora had a beautiful smile and a caring spirit that touched the lives of those who knew her. She was known for her selflessness and willingness to help others, always giving love like no other. In her golden days, Lora ran track and was passionate about the sport. She enjoyed staying active and participating in various activities. Lora found solace and strength in her faith and was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.
Lora will be deeply missed by her husband of 28 years, Herbert Mays, her children, Lawrence and Damarcus, her mother, Brenda Houston, her stepchildren, Edward and Eddie, her sister, Benita Houston/Adams (LB), her step-sisters, Senita Lock and Sheila Lock, and her special aunt, Tracey Houston. She was also a beloved grandmother to Damarcus Jr, Lawrence Jr, Amir, Jahiem, Jayzilyn, Jamari, and Jariya. Lora will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Lora was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Lock.
