Obituary for Leroy Hamilton

Mr. Leroy Hamilton, 98, of Woodville, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leroy Hamilton
Sr. He was born in Natchitoches, LA on October 29, 1924, to Johnny Hamilton
and Florestine Mitchell. He was laid to rest on September 5, 2023, at the blessed
age of 98.

Leroy Hamilton Sr. is survived by his six children: Lucy Hill (Vernell),
Leroy Hamilton Jr., Leo Hamilton Sr., Leonard Hamilton, Lorraine Summers
(Matthew), and Terrell Hamilton. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents
Johnny Hamilton and Florestine Mitchell, his ex-wife Stella L. Hamilton, his
daughter-in-law Veronica Dabney Hamilton, and his good friend Mr. Randolph.
Leroy leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by his 11 -
grandchildren and 15 - great-grandchildren.

Leroy Hamilton Sr. dedicated and committed 20 years of his life to
serving his country in the United States Signal Air Core (ASSC) Air Corps which
became the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), and Army with a total of 4
reenlistments. During his distinguished military career, he displayed unwavering
dedication and earned several prestigious decorations and ribbons in
recognition of his valor. Among these honors were the “Good Conduct Medal,”
the “European African Middle Eastern Service Medal,”; the “Asiatic Pacific
Theater Medal,” the “American Theater Medal,” and the “World War II Victory
Medal.” His service to this nation, The United States of America was a testament
to his: bravery, commitment, dedication, honor, and patriotism.
His love and passion for cooking and eating delighted his heart and
soul. He loved to share his southern-style cuisine recipes to encourage others to
get in the kitchen to cook and enjoy.

In his spare time, Leroy enjoyed sharing stories of his life’s adventures and
experiences. His tales were both entertaining and enlightening, leaving a lasting
impression on those who had the privilege of hearing them. Leroy was also known for his love of community and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need or to anyone. He believed in being courteous,
respectful, polite; and careful not to hurt others with his words when discontented. He leaves behind a lasting impact on his family, friends, and the lives of many throughout his long-lived journey. His legacy will continue through the generations he leaves behind.
