Obituary for Leonard (Shorty) Williams
Leonard (Shorty) Williams was born on August 11, 1943, to the union of Edmond and Ida Mae Williams in Joaquin, Texas. Shorty was raised in this small East Texas town with his other nine siblings, 4 girls and 5 boys. Shorty had a deep love for the blues. He learned to play the guitar at an early age just by listening to the tunes. He loved to show off his talents to those around him.
On March 11, 1963, he married the love of his life, Beatrice Wolf-Williams. The two lived in Joaquin, Texas until 1980 when they decided to move their family to Nacogdoches, Texas. Shorty worked for International Paper Company and after 25 years of employment, he retired in 2001. After retirement, he focused on operating his successful wrecker and salvage business.
After 36 years of living in Nacogdoches, Texas, his wife, Bea, wanted to move back to her hometown of Warren, Texas. Shorty honored his wife’s request and brought her back home to live out the rest of their lives. The couple loved spending time with their children, family and friends. The two also had a deep appreciation for fishing and gardening.
Proceeding his death is his wife, Beatrice Williams, Edmond Williams (father), Ida Mae Williams (mother), Cassie Mae Williams (sister), Cleo Williams (sister), Charles Williams (brother), Frank Williams (brother), Billy Ray Williams (brother), Earlene Williams (sister), and Herman Williams (brother).
Shorty is survived by his four children, Shirley Robinson (Danny), Carol Crawford (Vern), Terry Crowder, and Brenda Franklin (Sivera). He is also survived by Eddie Lee Williams (sister) and Hollis Williams (brother). Shorty has 12 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
