Obituary for LaTaria Evette Rigsby

LaTaria Evette Rigsby, age 41 passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2020, at her residence in Baytown, TX.

LaTaria was born on February 5, 1979 to the union of Charles and Patricia Rigsby (Johnson) at MMC in Lufkin, TX. LaTaria accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age where she was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Corrigan, TX. She was a 1997 graduate of Corrigan-Camden High School and continued her education at Angelia Community College. LaTaria was a faithful servant in the medical field where she worked as a CMA, Staffing Coordinator, and in Central Supply. Her most recent working endeavor was at Cedar Bayou Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Baytown, TX. She loved her career in caring for elderly people. She enjoyed music, shopping, and reading. She was a self-proclaimed make-up artist and lived for make-up and fashion.

LaTaria was the loving mother of three beautiful children. She believed in her kids, and taught them to be truthful, loving, and respectful. They were her world and she would do anything to protect them.

LaTaria is preceded in death by her loving father Charles Rigsby; Grandparents: Roxie Johnson, Jelton and Parthana Cooper, and Dan and Artholia Rigsby, and Uncles: Robert Johnson and Robert Kizzie.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Zahir Carter, Zakia Carter and Zakariah Rigsby; her mother, Patricia Rigsby (Calvin McGathon) of Corrigan, TX; grandparents, L.C. Johnson and Wanda Johnson of Corrigan, TX; sisters: LaQuita Jones (Willie) of Lufkin, TX and Roxie Nash (Justin) of Lufkin, TX; Beloved Best Friend/Sister: Lakeisha Mitchell of Houston, TX; Cousin/Best Friend: Fatima Al-Homaidi; Great Aunts: Freddie Horn of Chester, TX and Florene Johnson of Houston, TX; Uncles: Rogers Johnson (Evelyn), Donald Rigsby (Regina) of Houston, TX, Marshall McQueen Jr. (Elaine) of Los Angeles, CA; Aunts: Verna Richards of Houston, TX and Onita Rigsby of Waco, TX., and a special friend who she adored as a brother; Bennie Earl Johnson (Ruth) of New Willard, TX along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
