Obituary for LaRissa Rene Haynes
LaRissa Rene Haynes,44, of Silsbee, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
Larissa Rene’ Haynes was born to Barbara Gayle Haynes and Eddie Albert McKinney on August 22, 1979. Larissa’s youth and early teen years, as well as those of her 2 brothers, were spent on and around US Air Force installations in Lompoc, California and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Larissa returned to Texas in time to attend and graduate from Silsbee High School in Silsbee, Texas. She was a member of the Class of 1997. Her next educational stop was Texas Southern University where she attended with one of her brothers. After leaving TSU, Larissa met and married Michael Murray. To this union a daughter was born, Mykiera “cupcake” Murray. After divorcing Michael, Larissa met Dohn Major. This 8 year relationship produced a son, DeVohn Major. Larissa gave her life to Christ and joined Greater Mount Corinth MBC under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Roger D. Shillow.
Larissa has worked in home health, and the retail industry including Walmart, and a stint as manager of Ashley Stewart of Beaumont. After tiring of the retail industry, she finally decided to return to school and her calling, a certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She was employed at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas at the time of her death. Larissa had a big heart, loved her family, and “never met a stranger.”
Larissa was preceded in death by her brother, Fabian Haynes.
She is survived by her daughter and her son, Mykiera Murray and DeVohn Major, a brother Broderick Haynes (Vinnika), Johna' McKinney, and significant other Darren Lamb, parents Barbara and Rev. James Collins, father Eddie Albert McKinney (Azenet), 2 neices Jaelynn and Kaelan Haynes, and 2 nephews Caleb and Aiden Haynes.
The Family also recognizes a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, friends, and her coworkers in the nursing profession. To Larissa’s adopted sister, Lornetta, you will always be a part of our family. We love you and pray God’s comforting grace upon you.
