Obituary for Charles Fleming

Charles Fleming, 86, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Charles Edward Fleming was born on February 7, 1937, in Jasper, Texas to the late John and Myneal Fleming. He grew up in the Huff Creek Community where he joined the Rosebloom Baptist Church at an early age.

Charles pursued a career in the Southeast Texas logging industry where he worked and was well respected by many of his coworkers and employers. Early in life he met the absolute love of his life, Queedy Mae Hawthorne whom he married on April 25, 1959. He wholeheartedly believed that he who findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor from the Lord! This union produced four beautiful children, in whom he nourished and adored also, blessed to raise three other children as their own.

Charles was a dedicated and longtime member of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Wilson and later the Rev. Daniel Stafford. He was a devoted member of the Deacon Board, Finance Committee, Brother Hood, Male Choir and Prayer Meeting attendee until his health began to fail. He was willing and grateful to see the Kingdom of God flourish in all areas.

Charles was well-known as a very humble and God-Fearing man who loved his family. He touched many lives in both his family and community. Family was the most important thing in his life. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy whom he enjoyed keeping during summer breaks and holidays.

Charles was a strong servant of God who seldom complained, the Lord saw that he was tired and had suffered enough. He transitioned from this life to his eternal home peacefully on April 14, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers, Otis Brooks and Lloyd Fleming.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four children, Runt Fleming, Freda Gilbert (Joe), LaQuita Singleton (Larry) all of Jasper, Texas; Latrease Limbrick (Revon) of Castroville, Texas; also, three others he raised, Bill Adams (Gail), Blendia Monroe (Earnest) of Jasper, Texas; Chasity Fleming of Cedar Hill, Texas; three godchildren, Detra Monroe and Kendrick Jones (Chantony) both of Jasper, Texas; Demetrious Jones (Mike) of Memphis, TN; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four brothers, John Fleming (Debra), Dean Fleming, Robert Fleming, Don Fleming; two sisters, Glenda Samuel (Bobby), Lavelle Perkin (Leon) and a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving family and friends.
