Obituary for Aubrey Dereun Jackson

On January 24, 1957, Aubrey Jackson, Sr. was born in Lufkin, Texas to the union of the late McKinley and Clara Jackson. Aubrey accepted Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he served in the choir and as chairman of the deacon board under the leadership of Reverend Michael Hadnot.

Aubrey was educated in Woodville School District and was a 1975 graduate of Kirby High School. After graduation, he attended Prairie View A&M University where he studied mechanical engineering before entering the workforce. He and his high school sweetheart were married in 1976 and settled in Woodville, Texas where they raised six children.

His employment consisted of Lufkin Industries, Keller Industries, and Southern Pacific Railroad from which he retired in 1998. Aubrey was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Aubrey’s earthly journey was completed on January 28, 2021, when he was called home to be with the Lord.

Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents and now leaves a legacy of love with: his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon Jackson; sons, Aubrey Jackson, Jr. (Carolyn) of Lufkin, TX, Quentin Jackson (Kainya) of Beaumont, TX, Jeffrey Jackson of The Woodlands, TX, Eric Jackson (Jackie) of Woodville, TX; daughters, Lateashia Majors (Chauncey) of Cypress, TX, Antoinette Wise (Dalton) of Woodville, TX; brothers, Michael Jackson of Woodville, TX, Bobby Jackson, deceased (Carolyn) of Jasper, TX, Willie Jackson (JoAnn) of Jasper, TX, sisters, Cheryl Cauley (Bobby, deceased) of Woodville, TX, Theresa Mitchell (Edgar, deceased) of Woodville, TX, Donna Humphrey (Jimmy) of Woodville, TX, Valerie Jackson of Port Arthur, TX; aunt, Georgia Malone of Pflugerville, TX; brothers-in-law, Deitric Harrington (Shelly) of San Antonio, TX, Don Harrington (Harriet, deceased) of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Earlynn Williams (Roy C., deceased) of Austin, TX, special friends of the family, Felicia Holman, Sheena Jaganathan; In addition, he leaves thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
