Anthony Banard Etienne, was born April 14, 1965 to Douglas and Betty Etienne in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After the family moved to Houston, he attended E. L. Furr Sr. High School, where he became an award-winning trumpeter in his high school’s marching band. Anthony was also a member of the Furr High School’s R.O.T.C. Shortly after graduating in May of 1983, Anthony prepared to leave for San Diego, CA. for boot camp, as he became a member of the United States Marines.

As a he entered civilian life years later,, Anthony worked several jobs before landing the opportunity to work in a field that catered to his passions. As a teenager, he was intrigued with writing computer programs, as well as the inner workings of computers, mainframes, processors, megabytes, gigabytes and so on. Compaq gave him his start in the field and from there, he allowed himself to be engulfed with knowledge. Ultimately, in 2013, he was afforded an opportunity to move to Bentonville, Arkansas to work at Walmart’s headquarters as an engineer. Anthony made Bentonville his home until God called him to eternal glory.

Through the union with Stacy Etienne, Anthony lived as a proud father of Antoine “Duke” Etienne and Ebony Whittaker. Anthony Etienne also was a loving son, very supportive brother and uncle to his niece, nephews and great-nephew. Most importantly, Anthony displayed a life that personified the Christian walk. He was the standard those in his circle aspired too. Anthony’s church members became his family as well, as the church became a place he served with a diligence and conviction to please God.

Anthony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lela and Ezekiel Sly, and Antoine and Agnes Cola Etienne, as well as a host of uncles and aunts.

He leaves to cherish his life, (1) son; Antoine “Duke” Etienne, (1) daughter; Ebony Whittaker,

I knew Tony to be a sweet natured man. He worked along side my husband for many years at Wal-Mart. I am an avid home baker and love to send goodies with my husband to share with his co-workers (before the pandemic). Tony would call me “Bentonville’s Best Baker”. He was always very complimentary, sweet and thoughtful. And he had a great smile. Godspeed, Tony. You are missed.💕

With my most humble sympathy and respect, please accept my condolences on the passing of one of the kindest, helpful and forthright people I have had the honor of knowing. Tony was a special man, one you may not often meet, but one that you will know you've met for the rest of your life. This world needs more special people like Tony
