Obituary for Annie Lou Gill

Annie Lou Woodard Gill was born August 19, 1950 in Freestone County’s Butler Community. She was born to the late Ruthie B. and Carl Arthur Woodard. In her youth she attended United Methodist Church in Butler, Texas. She later graduated from Butler High School and went on to attend Wharton Junior College, where she later met and married Willie L. Gill.

After their union they moved to the Spurger community and began their lives together, where she quickly became a part of the community family. She was well loved and respected. She served her community by becoming the secretary of New Zion Baptist Church for many years, she also, served in any capacity needed at New Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was extremely active with her family. She became a part of a group called T.O.P.S., these ladies became family. When her health began to fail and she no longer could drive herself, her T.O P.S. family wouldn’t let that stop her, they would come and pick her up, until her health became more server.

Annie leaves to mourn her husband of 48 years, Willie Gill, Sr. Three sons Willie Jr (Tanya) of Livingston, Chris (Amber) of Nederland and Richard, one daughter Deranda Scott (Torreon) of Edmond, OK. After the passing of their mother, she became a mother figure to three of her nephews Johnnie Whittaker III (Ke’Neisha) of Garland, Phillip Whittaker of Nederland and George Whittaker of Edmond, OK., and loved them with a mother’s love. Eight grandchildren Darus Gill, Savian Gill, Tori Scott, Devin Scott, Wesley Gill, Briana Gill, Sania Gill and Bryce Gill. Also, two sisters Ida Phillips and Vertis Woodard of Dallas, TX. Three brothers Ed Lee Woodard (Ruth) of Ft. Worth, Robert Shed (Audrey) of Ft. Worth and George Woodard (Yvonne) of Florida. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gill will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 12:00pm
