Obituary for Angelene Lewis (Odom)
Angelene Lewis, 67, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
Angelene “Angie” Odom Lewis was born on March 29, 1956 to Charlie Odom and Lucille Hawthorne in Shreveport Louisiana. On October 4, 2023, God chose Angie to leave this earthly world.
Angie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and celebrating life with her family and friends. She could be heard saying her favorite phrase “Now let that be the reason.” Most of all, Angie was grateful to get to see her great grandson come into the world.
Angie grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana until the 2nd grade and then the family moved to Jasper, Texas. She joined Peaceful Rest Baptist Church as a young child and sang in the choir. Angie later married Thomas Lewis and they moved to Beaumont, Texas. Angie worked as a medication aide in Beaumont until her health failed and she moved back home with her loving daughter Angela.
Angie was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Odom; sister, Gustine Hicks, and brother, George Hawthorne.
Angie leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted daughter, Angela (KK) Monroe; mother, Lucille Hawthorne Manuel; granddaughters, Challiyah, Brumleyand, Shakia Moran of Houston, Texas and Michaye Monroe of Jasper, Texas; one great grandson; Emir Hines of Houston Texas; brother: Reverend MT Hicks (Barbara) of Huntsville Alabama, sisters, Mary Hicks, Kathy Scott(Thomas), Georgia Odoms, all of Jasper, Texas and Lizzie Odom of Beaumont, Texas; Uncles, Freddie Anderson of San Antonio, Texas, Washie Anderson of Kountze, Texas; and Aunt: Hannah Anderson of Sacramento California. Angie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who loved her dearly.
