Catherine Ophelia Simpson-Matthews, 49, of Port Arthur Texas was called home on Friday, June 22, 2018.

Catherine Ophelia Simpson-Matthews was born to the union of Otis Simpson Sr. and Louise Simpson on April 10, 1969 in Port Arthur, Texas. Catherine was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a very young age. Catherine worshipped for many years at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Beaumont, Texas. She was a 1987 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and later in life united in marriage to Willie Matthews Sr. Catherine Matthews worked as a Sales Associate for over 20 years. She was an outgoing and caring person. Catherine had a passion for animals and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Catherine Ophelia Simpson-Matthews was preceded in death by her father; Otis Simpson Sr. and mother; Louise Perry, grandparents; Huria Griffin Sr. & Ophelia Griffin, William Henry Simpson Sr. & Hazel Simpson, one (1) brother; Otis Simpson Jr.

Catherine Ophelia Simpson-Matthews leaves to cherish her memories: three (3) children; Desiree Simpson, Willie Matthews Jr., and Deondre Matthews, four (4) grandchildren; Aubrey Blaze, Emmitt Blaze, Karson Blaze, and Kameron Matthews, two (2) sisters; Alice Shepherd (Willie) and Gaynell Sanders (Carl) , and one (1) brother; Andy Simpson Sr. all of Port Arthur, Tx. Catherine also leaves and held very close to her heart five (5) extended sisters, eight (8) extended brothers, six (6) sister-in-laws , two (2) brother-in-laws, one (1) godson and one (1) god sister, stepfather; Herman Perry Sr. and stepmother; Gladiola Simpson. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
